We are having a cool spell here, so today is a good day for an actual walk! Our temperatures are in the 80’s right now. I am going to try to squeeze in as many outdoor activities as I can during this time, because it will get so hot so fast over the next couple of weeks.
How are you spending your Memorial Day weekend? D has the day off on Monday and is deep in the throes of planning a grilling session. He is kind of scaring me with the amount of food he plans to grill. But maybe I will have food for the rest of the week already done on Monday, so I shouldn’t complain. I am definitely going to get some asparagus and red onion to make one of our favorite salads while he is grilling. Oooh, that sounds good just thinking about it.
I think we will also have a picnic (outdoors if possible). G is a little into picnics lately and takes the opportunity to eat picnic-style whenever she finds a piece of fabric and food that has fallen on the floor (this happens more than I would like to admit!).
I am trying to think of a way to honor our fallen heroes and tell G about them. We just recently introduced the concept of “bravery” to her, so I will try to come up with some way to make that real to her.
Anybody up for a stroll? Here are my favorites for the week.
Song:
I love, LOVE, love Josh Ritter. I think he is the best song writer of this generation and an amazing showman! His latest has been on repeat in the car lately and I love most of the album, including Joy to the World.

I joined a group last summer on Facebook called Best Summer Ever. The group shared pictures of the fun stuff we intentionally set out to do with our kids during the summer. This summer we are doing it again (in an attempt to top ourselves, I guess) and we are starting next week. I started putting some ideas together on my Pinterest board called Best Summer Ever. I think what I am going to try to do to make it simple (or as simple as possible) is follow this printable from ReMarkable Home:
This beautiful Hawaiian Strawberry Tart reminds me of a recipe I made a few years back that I still get requests for. Maybe I will try this one from a Sweet Baker and see which one wins out.
Lastly, as G gets more talkative and is putting forming sentences and paragraphs, I am thinking about ways to create conversation around the dinner table. My buddy, Jodie over at Growing Book by Book comes up with conversation starter for families each month in a series called Table Topics. I love her ideas!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend! Blessings!

That tart looks so yummy. We are planning on going strawberry picking in the next few weeks, so I’ll have to keep that recipe in mind! Enjoy the weekend!
Thanks for featuring my Hawaiian Strawberry Tart on your blog and linking it back to me! Hope you have an awesome week! 🙂
