This morning, after my husband and I sat on the couch and tried to pry our eyes open after a long weekend away. We urged ourselves off the couch. I made a cup of coffee. He got ready to leave for work. He came over and gave me a long hug. I told him, “Two years ago today, we didn’t have kids.” He smiled and said, “Yeah.”
Two years ago today, we were getting ready to go to the hospital, hoping to bring home a baby.
Two years ago today, we had the surprise of our lives.
Two years ago today, we met this beautiful face:
This is just moments after she was brought into this world, alert, wide-eyed. She brought with her smiles and joy. And a whirlwind.
Last year I wrote a post (the first on this blog actually) about the milestones and events that would happen in the year ahead. At the time, my sweet young girl had never crawled, never uttered a word, never had ice cream.
When she was one year old, she was walking (fast), talking, exploring the world and cataloging the information at an astounding pace. Her hair stood on end, with no remedy in sight.
In the last year she has done so much more than we could have imagined. She has grown into a little ball of talking energy. She has become a sensitive and generous little girl. She knows so much, we are scared to see where that will take her.
And this is just the beginning! We can’t wait to see what God will do in the next year. We are praising Him today (and every day) for the life of our sweet Lillian Grace.
Two years ago today, our lives changed forever.
Yeah.
