Simply Get Awesome Photos & GIFs of your Kids

tutorial for creating awesome photos and GIFs of your Kids

I am not even close to what I would call a photographer, but I have fallen in love with taking pictures of my family.  But my girls are ACT-IVE, I mean constantly on the move.  And getting great photos of my kids that capture their true essence is really difficult.  I either get the cheesy smile, or a blurry shot of a kid running out of the frame.

But I discovered a really simple way to get awesome photos of my girls without taking a fancy photography class, buying a crazy piece of equipment or spending any money really!  And I kind of thought everybody knew about it until I was sharing it with some family over the holidays.  Even my blogging-savvy sister-in-law didn’t know how to do it and messaged me a couple of days later to find out how I did it.  That’s when I decided I would share the simple way to get amazing photos of your kids here in an easy tutorial. Proper Care and Maintenance of Granite

in depth tutorial to teach proper care and maintenance of granite surfaces
This entry is part 2 of 2 in the series The Builder's Wife Shares

I was committing some serious sins against my granite countertops in my kitchen without even realizing it!  They were seriously neglected and when I did clean them, I did it wrong!  Poor granite!  But after a quick instructional session with our granite installer last week, I remedied the situation and now know the proper care and maintenance of granite.  My countertops look amazing and I feel so much more confident that I am treating them properly.  Continue Reading

Maple Angel Food Cake w/ Maple Icing

My mother-in-law loves anything and everything maple. Her favorite line from Elf is, “Is there sugar in syrup?” “Then, YES!”

We just had a birthday dinner over at our house for her and so I thought I would make her a maple dessert.  I made a maple angel food cake a number of years ago for her that she loved.  I thought it was good, but I thought it could have been better.  So, I did a little research on icing and frosting with maple flavoring and set out to bake the perfect angel food cake.

Along the way, my husband and I made a run to World Market and picked up some maple flavored snacks.  We discovered that the latest trend in maple flavored goodies is to add bacon (of course!).

Spring Cleaning: Cleaning a Ceiling Fan

I am working my way through a Spring Cleaning challenge with an amazing group of organizing and cleaning bloggers.  They send me an email each morning with the challenge for the day and I have been trying to fit in a little bit of deep cleaning each day.  The house may not be spotless, yet; but I am making progress!

I worked on cleaning our bedroom and really needed to clean our ceiling fan.  Our normal cleaning often includes cleaning the blades with a dusting cloth, but I needed to get to the more neglected portions of the fan. Continue Reading

Task #10: Homemade Gnocchi

This entry is part 11 of 22 in the series Tackling Tasks

Tomorrow is a big day in our house.  Our youngest is turning ONE!  Yea!  We are so blessed to have her in our lives and can’t wait so get to know her better in the coming year!

We are planning on having a birthday party for her next Saturday, so I thought it would be nice to just have the grandparents (that can make it) come and join us for dinner.  And then I started planning the menu, trying to come up with things our ONE year old can eat.  I quickly settled on gnocchi (the massive bag of potatoes in my kitchen had nothing to do with it).  I LOVE gnocchi and I think W will, too!
