This entry is part 32 of 32 in the series Baby Days
1 in 5 are unplanned. For our first baby I prepared to have her naturally (or as naturally as possible). I read the books, prayed a lot, and psyched myself up for the big day when I.would.birth.a.human. Then as the day approached our little surprise was breach – laying patiently on her side for the day of her (overdue) arrival. We did all the things we could to try to turn her. And she did!! I felt her flip the night before the big day. We got to the hospital and they did the ultrasound – she had flipped and was now sitting up straight – even more breach than before.
We made the decision: a C-section was necessary.
And suddenly we were in a whole new world. We had no idea about what to expect, what to know, nothing. We were just walking through the motions for the next few days with a new baby as new parents, me recovering from a major surgery.
Here is a bit of our story, told to illustrate the simple things I have learned about post-cesarean recovery. Continue Reading
I participated in a Blog Blast Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Bella Gravida. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
I had dreams about what I was going to look like pregnant. My dreams involved glowing skin, perfectly toned arms and legs, and only a hint of a baby showing by a bump in my midsection. I was going to be the most stylish pregnant woman with the best wardrobe I could get my hands on. I even told my husband to get ready, “I am going to be CUTE!” The dream and the reality are never quite the same, are they?
I was talking on the phone with a friend about how I feel about my maternity body. And let’s just say I am way more self-conscious when I am pregnant than I typically am. My body is just not MY body anymore. It is me, but with a little extra. Continue Reading
This pregnancy is progressing very nicely! I have been in nesting mode for most of my second trimester this time around. Which has been interesting because I NEVER nested with the first, and sort of nested toward the end of the 2nd and some of the 3rd trimester with my second one. It must be related to the understanding of just how different life is with the addition of each child! Nonetheless, the energy I have felt in the second trimester has been so welcome. In the first trimester I felt like I just couldn’t get enough sleep. And now I am sleeping less and less and doing more and more. If I had to pick a favorite trimester, I would definitely say the second is the best.
With all that said, there are still some crazy changes going on in my body which necessitate that I treat my body different. And again, I have some serious opinions about the products that are my must have, real deal things to get me through this trimester. And, as promised, I am sharing them with you in the hopes that they will be blessings to you, too! Continue Reading
I have been hoping that the Lord would bless us with another baby (despite my husband’s other-minded-ness) and He has. I am pregnant again and just made it through the first trimester. I have not taken the opportunity to talk pregnancy and child-birth much on this blog, because honestly, I didn’t have the energy when I was going through the last pregnancy and early baby stages. But this time around, I don’t have that pesky bed-rest to deal with (just yet) and I have finally gotten back some of the energy I so desperately miss during the first trimester! And after my pregnancies, I have LOTS of opinions on products that are my must-have items for each stage of pregnancy. So, I thought I would divide them up by trimester and share my favorite pregnancy supplies with you. If this is your first pregnancy (congratulations!), you may want to consider these items as you navigate this new season. If this is your second (or third, etc.) pregnancy, I am sure you would agree with some of them and have others to add. Continue Reading
