5 New Mama Freebies You’ve Never Heard About

the best Freebies for new moms - the very best freebies (not coupons). This list includes things I had never heard of before!
This entry is part 28 of 29 in the series Baby Days

I am not crazy, I LOVE a good deal!  Who doesn’t?  And right now it is a great time to be a new mom because there are a TON of new mama freebies to be had!  Lots of companies want to congratulate you on your status as a new mom.  And they want you as a new (and loyal) customer.  So, they are offering lots of great things just for being you!  But not all the freebies/deals are all that great.

Here’s a rundown of the really great ones.  The ones I think are really worth your time.  And just so you know, most of them involve paying shipping and handling for the product (you know what they say about no free rides).  These freebies are ones I haven’t seen on the myriad lists of new mom freebies and giveaways.  And my list is not a bunch of coupons you don’t have time to cut or the ability to remember to bring to the store.  Continue Reading

Getting Ready for Baby: Early Feeding Essentials

early feeding essentials for baby
This entry is part 9 of 29 in the series Baby Days

We went last weekend and registered for our soon-to-arrive little one!  And oh, goodness: the options!  It can be kind of overwhelming.  The reason I tend not to be overwhelmed this time around is that it is our third time.  I have a pretty good idea of what we will absolutely NEED and what would be nice to have, but will not be necessary.  And the reason we are registering?  I got rid of everything (EVERYTHING) a few weeks before we found out we were pregnant!

I am trying to see the bright side by saying that this time around we can get the things we actually love and use.  And we know the things that we would like to splurge on and the things we just don’t need.  So, I thought I would share with you, in a series of posts here at Simple.Home.Blessings.  the essentials for baby.  So you can make the registry and purchasing process easy and uncluttered.  I am sharing only the quality products that really are worth it.  It may seem like the list is really short, but honestly, you don’t need a whole bunch of things!  Continue Reading

Second Trimester Survival

a real deal list of must have items for surviving the second trimester of pregnancy

This pregnancy is progressing very nicely!  I have been in nesting mode for most of my second trimester this time around.  Which has been interesting because I NEVER nested with the first, and sort of nested toward the end of the 2nd and some of the 3rd trimester with my second one.  It must be related to the understanding of just how different life is with the addition of each child! Nonetheless, the energy I have felt in the second trimester has been so welcome.  In the first trimester I felt like I just couldn’t get enough sleep.  And now I am sleeping less and less and doing more and more.  If I had to pick a favorite trimester, I would definitely say the second is the best.

With all that said, there are still some crazy changes going on in my body which necessitate that I treat my body different.  And again, I have some serious opinions about the products that are my must have, real deal things to get me through this trimester.  And, as promised, I am sharing them with you in the hopes that they will be blessings to you, too! Getting Ready for Baby – Preparing Your Home for Helpers

This entry is part 17 of 29 in the series Baby Days

Since we just welcomed our second baby and I have a few friends that are having second, third, and fourth babies, I have preparation for baby-ness on the brain.  And there are so many things to consider when bringing home any baby: what to buy, what to clean, and what to cook ahead of time.  But, one of the big considerations people often overlook when getting ready for baby is preparing your home for help.

We ended up having to have a c-section for a breach baby the first time around; creating a need for lots of help after my husband went back to work while I recovered.  Then we got pregnant pretty quick (seven months later) and I had to go on bed rest for 2 months at the beginning of that pregnancy.  Then, we had another c-section for baby number two.  All told I had someone not in my immediate family in my home every week day for almost 20 weeks over the last two years.  That is INSANE!  We were so blessed to have lots of helpers: my moms (biological and bonus), my mother-in-law, and my sister-in-law as well as various friends.
