One Year Old Preschool

As recently as two years ago I came to terms with the idea that I might have the ability to teach others.  Can you see that I haven’t fully come to terms with this concept?  I mean, doesn’t it seem pretty presumptuous to call yourself a teacher?  Doesn’t it imply wisdom and understanding beyond that of the students?  The Lord took me on the journey to become a Precept Bible study leader after about 6 years of studying Precept courses.  I must say it has been an amazing blessing and it is indeed humbling.  I am often “teaching” women who are twice my age so it is hard still to call myself a “teacher.”  Often I get around it by calling myself a “leader of discussion” and to be quite honest, that is how I approach “teaching” the Bible.

But, having a baby makes you a teacher whether you like it or not.  Continue Reading

One Year Old Preschool: Week 1

This week for our very first week of Preschool, we started with the theme: “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”  (from Psalm 139). The goal for this unit is for our little one to: know the body parts (as many of them as possible) and know who “I” am.

For Week 1 the focus was the face.  We tried to teach G where her eyes, ears, mouth, and nose are on her face. Continue Reading

The unit we are working on for this month is the body with a theme verse of “I am fearfully and wonderfully made (from Psalm 139).  The goal for this unit is for our little one to: know the body parts (as many of them as possible) and know who “I” am.

The unit we are working on for this month is the body with a theme verse of “I am fearfully and wonderfully made (from Psalm 139).  The goal for this unit is for our little one to: know the body parts (as many of them as possible) and know who “I” am.

This week’s focus was on the hands and fingers.  We didn’t work as intensively on this as in previous weeks, because G already has a pretty good understanding of her hands and fingers; but we had a good time! Continue Reading

One Year Old Preschool: Foods and Feeding

This entry is part 6 of 19 in the series One Year Old Preschool

This week we started a new unit on foods and eating.

The theme verse for this unit is “Give us this day our daily bread” from Matthew 6:11.  The purposes of this unit are: learning to eat with a spoon/fork and a plate/bowl, increase communication at mealtime through sign language, and instill a basic understanding of the provision of God in our everyday lives.
