Simple.Home.Blessings…meaningful homemaking without fussiness.
Welcome to Simple.Home.Blessings! I am so glad you are here and interested enough to check out more about us.
Who we are: Here is most of our little family (we did this photo shoot as a surprise for Daddy’s birthday)
Clockwise from the top is W. She is our crazy curly-haired 3 and a half year old. She LOVES doing anything her older sister is doing. We call her our Contrary Canary. She does not know how to walk anywhere or whisper. She was the loudest of our babies right out of the womb and she lives up to it every day!
And on the right in the front is G. She is almost 5 years old. She is super-bright, outspoken, and full of energy. She is such an amazing big sister. God really knew what He was doing when he gave her a younger sister and a younger brother!
In the front on the left is our baby boy, AG. He was born at the last possible minute in November of 2015. He was a complete surprise to us and continues to be a blessing to our lives. He is my bonus baby that I have a hard time putting down.
And I am Leah, wife to a wonderful man and mother to these beautiful girls and sweet baby boy. I have been a homemaker for over 10 years and I love everything about it. I also lead a Bible Study for a wonderful group of ladies. So it is important for me to share with you that I am a child of God through the blood of Jesus Christ. My relationship to God drives and holds all my other relationships together. Because of Him (His character and His provision), I have everything I need in life and find myself so blessed.
And I couldn’t complete the story of our family without sharing with you a little bit about my handsome man, Drew. He is a builder of crazy custom homes in the desert. He and I were friends long before God tapped us on the shoulders and said, “There. That’s the one.” His generosity of spirit and the simple way he lives with contentment and a sense of humor still impress me each day.
What we do:
I write a lot about homemaking related things. Since I was a stay-at-home-wife (yes, they make those these days) for 6 years before I was a stay-at home-mom, I am passionate about all topics related to making a house a home. I love to cook and bake. I love a clean floor. And I could just sit and look at a well organized room for most of an afternoon. But life with kids has informed my homemaking. I write a lot about the activities and learning opportunities we have with the girls. I still like to stretch my homemaking muscles, so you will still find lots related to that, but we write and talk about what we know, so lots of toddler and baby related things these days. I started this blog as an attempt to record the fits and starts, the successes and failures of making a home. It is the stuff I have learned, am learning, and have yet to discover. And so it continues…
Why we do it:
I hope to attest to and record the joys of daily living – not as a source of drudgery but of deep contentment and joy. Making the most of a situation is not what you get here. I hope to revel in life, not compare it to others. God has blessed our home with love and joy and peace and I want to speak of it to the world.
Life itself is simple, it is the doing that makes it difficult. I want to daily remind myself and anyone reading not to complicate things and to experience deep and abiding joy in the mundane and the marvelous. I want simple solutions to daily problems and procedures that don’t leave me exhausted at the end of the day.
