Are you throwing away more than $100 a year?
We were! There are a TON of Holiday weekend promotions out there each major (and some minor) holiday. Stores simply want you to get in the door and they will often offer great deals to do it. But some stores reward you for stopping by on a holiday weekend. We were throwing away these offers, but not anymore!
Now we get a reward each holiday weekend. If it is a federal holiday, we get at least a $20 gift card just by doing one simple thing.
Have you ever gotten one of these advertisements in the mail and thrown it out thinking it was just a gimmick to get you to the car dealership? Well, it is a gimmick to get you into the dealership, but you WILL get at least a gift card every time.
Here’s the scoop:
We get these the week before major holidays (Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.) in the mail.
We make the trip to the dealership.
One of us gets out of the car and walks in to get the gift card. We could have possibly won one of the other prizes, but we have never gotten more than a $20 gift card.
We tell the car salesman we don’t need any cars at this time.
We get back in the car and go home, $20 gift card in hand.
The whole transaction can take less than 5 minutes!
The car dealership is interested in getting their name out there. They realize that not everyone is in the market for a car right now, but they know most families will be in the market for a car in the future. They want to be the first one on your list when you are. So, they send out these promotions and encourage you to come down to get the gift card. More eyes on their products mean someone starts dreaming of a new car (and hopefully soon). They do realize that you may not be in the market and so there is not a high-pressure sales pitch when you walk in the door. They don’t want to turn you away!
So, they look it as a win-win situation. They get numbers in the door and you get a reward for walking in.
Make sure you don’t throw these promotion cards away! They are valuable, especially if you are on a tight budget! We almost always get Target cards (which we love!) and can use them to get essentials for our girls (hello, diapers!). Or, I use them on promotions where you get another gift card with purchase, stretching the freebie even further!
And with the holiday weekend coming up, check your mail! There are pennies from heaven in there!
