Entryway Preview and Rug Giveaway!

entry way from upstairsDisclaimer: I received a rug in exchange for an honest review of the product.  All opinions in the post are my own.

We are in the midst of some remodeling projects around our home, but they are going much, much slower than anticipated (sounds like most remodels, huh?)  But we have to wait for the workers to be available around my husband’s building schedule (read more and ask questions here), so patience is being worked out.

So, I was so surprised and excited when I received an invitation from Mohawk Home to select a rug for my home in exchange for an honest review.  It was like my little reward for all my patience!  I got to shop through all their rugs and pick one just right for our home.

We were actually in the market for two rugs.  We needed one for our living room and one for our entry way.  Since our living room project is the thing taking MUCH longer than expected and the rug is the final puzzle piece for it, I opted for a rug for the entry way.

Our previous entryway, was just not that exciting.  I don’t think I even have true “before” pictures of it.  So we are trying to put a pop of color into the room.  I also wanted to make a statement with the rug, by adding a much larger rug.  Previously, we had a small rug situated in front of the door that was not special.

As I shopped for the rug at Mohawk Home, I had a hard time picking just one rug!  There are some amazing, affordable options!  And we settled on a rug with a Moroccan-inspired print in grey.

The minute the rug arrived, I ripped open the package and threw out our old rug.  The new rug is PERFECT!

entry way redo

I love the material (nylon) for use in our entry way because it is easy to clean (just run a vacuum over it) and soft to the touch.  But I honestly love the backing!  It is no-slip rubber backing, so I don’t have to use a rug pad under it and it hasn’t gone anywhere!  Even with our girls running over it and guests coming in and out, it hasn’t moved!

The pattern makes the simple statement I was looking for.  Each morning as I come downstairs, I am so pleased to see the new rug in our entry way.  It starts my day off with a smile.  Since my husband is not a fan of pattern (any kind of pattern), I feel like we picked something that works for both of us.  And I feel like I kind of won the pattern battle for once!

entry way from upstairsI also love the size we chose.  We got a 5 x 8 rug because our entry way is large.  Previously, we had a table and chair in the entry way, but we recently purchased the turquoise console table for the space.  Since the console table has a lower profile, we could up the size of the rug without competing for space.

We aren’t quite done with the projects in the entry way and I am still fussing with what will go on the console, but it is so nice to have this rug to make it feel like the room is more complete.

Would you like a rug of your own?  The people at Mohawk Home have generously provided a rug for my readers.  And you get to pick the one you want (up to 5 x 8 and under $150)!  How exciting.  Make sure to enter the raffle below!

Enter to Win a Mohawk Rug!We will be working a lot on our home this year.  And hopefully finishing some projects! So check back in and see what we do with the rest of the entry way (we are planning a DIY lamp project and DIY art for the wall).
